Buying a used car is not an
easy task. It takes time and crucial analysis of various aspects of the car’s
condition to make the right decision. However, there is one thing that is as
vital as investing the large amount on the metal- paperwork. Paper work required to purchase/sell used
carsa and second hand cars in India has to be checked to make sure that the vehicle you are
purchasing is not stolen nor a ringer. Here are some of the documents that you
need to verify before signing to buy it.
· Vehicle Identification
Number: Make sure that the VIN of the car matches with that on the
registration. Also if you are dealing with individuals make sure that the seller
is the keeper and check his ID to be on the safer side.
· Insurance:
Insurance is an essential document that is a ‘must’ when you buy a car. For
any transfer by RTO, these papers are mandatory. Check the due date on the
premium for insurance and ensure that the papers are transferred to your name.
·
Road Tax:
This is one tax that is forgotten by most owners. Thought the amount payable is
paltry amount; take adequate steps to insist the owner to clear all payments
before buying.
·
NOC: When
buying from the finance company, retain a photocopy of this document and see
that no one else has any claim on the car you are about you buy.
· Registration
Document Match: You can identify the false documents by simply checking the
color of the form. There will be a noticeable change in the color and a proper
verification of the signature will also help identify the originality of the
document.
When you sell your used car keep in mind to
include all the essential paperwork necessary for the new owner. Never forget
to buy used cars in India after a
thorough check of all the paperwork. After all a car without proper paperwork
is like a mobile without charge.
